In the sheltered south facing bay to the north of Mazarron, the village of Isla Plana is in a lovely position, facing the mediterranean sea and with a backdrop of mountains creating a microclimate all of its own. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in which to sample the famous gastronomy of the province of Murcia and of course you will find all the necessary facilities in order to enjoy a wonderful holiday in the sun including a diving school and pleasure boat trips around the bay or further afield for fishing trips.
The lively resort of Puerto de Mazarron lies just along the bay and a relaxing stroll along the marina or paseo there is a pleasant way to end a lazy day on the beach. Cartagena is a short scenic drive over the mountain and this ancient port, where you will see the prototype of the very first submarine, was founded by the Carthaginians and has much to offer with pedestranised shopping streets and malls to historic museums and churches
If you would like a change from the beach and resort area for a while, golf courses abound in the vicinity with the closest being the Sensol 18 hole course at Camposol or Hacienda del Álamo which is around 45 minutes away.
Isla Plana enjoys a beautiful beach and coastline, with many things to be seen and visited in the immediate area including the ruins of the famous gun fortress where it is reported that scenes from the film The Guns of Navarone were filmed.
